Wire & Wood Songwriters Festival returns to downtown Alpharetta October 9 and 10, turning the city center into one of North Atlanta’s biggest free music destinations of the month.

Friday’s festival hours run from 6 to 11 p.m., while Saturday expands into a full day from noon to 11 p.m.

The festival features more than 30 performances across seven or more stages, with music ranging from Americana and indie to Southern rock, pop and country.

The format makes downtown itself part of the show rather than simply the place where a concert happens.

Corey Smith headlines Friday night, while Sister Hazel takes the headline spot Saturday.

Wire & Wood focuses on songwriters and original music, giving audiences a chance to hear the people behind the songs in a festival setting.

A new Music Market adds art and handcrafted goods centered on music themes to this year’s experience.

Admission to the outdoor festival is free, which makes it easy to sample several stages instead of committing to one performance.

That flexibility is especially useful for families and casual music fans who may want to spend only part of the day downtown.

Serious music fans, on the other hand, can build an entire weekend around the lineup.

Downtown Alpharetta will see significant road closures during the festival, so driving and parking deserve a little advance planning.

Festival parking includes downtown decks and lots, but crowds can make the closest spaces fill quickly.

The event is rain or shine, and outside food, beverages and pets are not permitted.

With music spread across the city center, comfortable shoes may be almost as important as knowing which artist you want to hear.

Visitors can move between stages, stop at downtown restaurants and shops, and make the festival part of a broader Alpharetta outing.

The mix of national names and emerging performers also gives the weekend a discovery element that a single-headliner concert cannot match.

October 9–10 lands Wire & Wood in the heart of North Atlanta’s busy fall-event season.

For residents of Roswell, Johns Creek, Milton, Sandy Springs and surrounding communities, the festival offers major live music without a trip into central Atlanta.

Its strongest selling point may be simple: two days, dozens of performances and a walkable downtown setting with no general admission charge.

Anyone planning around a favorite artist should check the current stage schedule before arriving, since performances run simultaneously across the festival footprint.

For October music in North Atlanta, Wire & Wood is one of the month’s dates worth circling.

Also on the Alpharetta October calendar, Paint the Town brings artists outdoors across the city October 20–24.

Separate the free stages from the Listening Room

The Alpharetta tourism festival guide lists a separately ticketed Listening Room at Roaring Social on October 10 at 3 p.m., featuring David Lowery, David Ryan Harris and Angie Aparo. It advertises tickets at $30; check current availability and terms before buying. That indoor session should not be confused with the free outdoor festival.

The organizer’s Plan Your Visit page lists parking at City Hall’s deck, the Roswell Street lot and the Milton Avenue deck. It directs rideshare pickups and drop-offs to Innovation Academy, 125 Milton Avenue. Review road closures before selecting a route, particularly around Highway 9 and Milton Avenue, rather than relying only on ordinary navigation directions.

Consult the current stage schedule close to the event because appearances can change. Our Groovin’ on the Green guide offers another October 10 concert option in Dunwoody, while Paint the Town supplies a later arts weekend. Facts were checked October 3, 2026; use the primary pages for any updates.
